I realized I never got around to posting about our trip to Denver. I think it's at least worth a few lines, and some pictures.
We left on a Thursday from Salt Lake and drove to Rawlins, Wyoming. Phil would have driven all the way to Denver, but I thought it would be fun to stop in a little town we had never seen before and stay the night. Also a nice way to break up our trip.
Rawlins is small. But I'm kind of used to small, coming from Edgewood, so I mostly thought it was cute. Phil didn't.
There isn't much to see there, except for the Wyoming Frontier Prison, which of course, we visited. We had a cute tour guide as well as three other guys in our group who seemed to know a lot about prison...She showed us all around and truthfully, it was pretty interesting. For those who are wondering, its a historic site, not currently used. It was built in 1901 and closed in the 1980's.

Friday we drove the rest of the way to Denver. It was great to see my mom, dad and brother and especially exciting to see the long talked of Book Fair! It was great, though it was kind of like shopping at Anthropologie; I loved everything and couldn't afford anything (books can be very expensive).
I did however find a few books that I could not leave without:
I love young adult fiction from the 19th or early 20th centuries. These little treasures (above) were written from 1904 to about 1915 by Margaret Warde. They are only 4 from a set of 8. I absolutely love the art on the covers.
Charlotte Bronte is my favorite author and I couldn't resist buying this compilation of some of her works titled An Hour with Charlotte Bronte or Flowers From a Yorkshire Moor. It includes excerpts from her novels, poetry, letters and a biographical essay. Not to mention the cover is beautiful. Printed in 1882.
We drove back Sunday, stopped in Buford (smallest town in the country, if you can call it a town) and found a monument to Abraham Lincoln.
Overall, it was it a fun little trip, I wish it could have been longer.
