I'm terrible at taking pictures. It seems that I take lots of pictures of things that don't matter, and then when there are things that actually do matter and would be fun to have pictures of, I forget my camera (ignore the bad grammar and dangling prepositions in that sentence). Like last weekend for example. My best friend Maggie has a family cabin and we have have been trying for a few months to get some friends together to go stay there. Finally we worked out all the details and went up last Friday. Of course, I forgot my camera. But then, I didn't even think about the fact that Phil had his iPhone which pretty much takes pictures just as well as my camera. So, I didn't take any pictures at all and you will just have to imagine what this oh-so-cute cabin was like.
The cabin was near Kamas, east of Salt Lake City. It was a beautiful area, out in the woods, the cabin surrounded by trees, quiet and peaceful. It made me miss my parents home in Edgewood (which is not out in the woods, but is quiet and peaceful, away from the city). We played games, had a delicious dinner of steak, baked potatoes, and corn on the cob, and then drove around on Maggie's 4-wheeler and explored the nearby river. Jared and Phil threw rocks at things (boys never really grow up do they?) and Maggie and I attempted to cross the river only to find it was freezing cold and slippery and we would probably be on our butts before we made it three steps.
That night we made s'mores and watched movies and then slept so well in the nice cool mountain air (our apartment is SO hot in the summer, so the cabin was a nice break from the heat). The next day we had a yummy breakfast, went on a walk and looked at other peoples' cabins and chose our favorites, and then played some more games. It was nice to just get away and be with friends. It was nice to take a break from all the distractions I seem to have in my life lately. It was just nice.

| This isn't really where Maggie's cabin is, but it kind of looks like this and at least gives you something to look at besides words on a page. |
