On Again

I have been feeling for a while that I wanted to start up a blog again. I didn't even realize that my old blog still existed, but I found it, updated it and made it cute. Since I have been home from my mission, and I might add, since I got married, there have been plenty of post-worthy things to write about, so, I'll give blogging another try and maybe this time I will have more than two posts after two years time.

Right now, I am nearing the end of my internship at the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy which has really been a good experience. I'll admit that at the beginning I was a bit disenchanted, but as time has gone by I have really begun to appreciate the work that UCCD does and I hope I can stay involved in the organization even after my internship ends.

My new job at the Lion House has been fun. I work as a Birthday Hostess for the children's parties. I get to dress up in old fashioned clothes, play pioneer games, pull taffy and tell stories. I'd say it's a pretty good job. Plus, I've always kind of felt like I was born in the wrong century, so this gives me an opportunity to connect with my 19th century self.

The summer semester is almost over! One more week and I am done...for two weeks. Classes start up again on August 22, but at least they will be new and different classes, including: Business Spanish, Intro to International Business, Studies in British Romanticism (the class is focusing on Jane Austen!), and Marketing Vision. Hopefully I will learn a thing or two.

I will also be starting my second job as a tutor for elementary aged kids with a program called America Reads. It is a work study job through the University and I am looking forward to it. When I was younger I never expected to work with children, but I've realized that several of my jobs have been involved with kids, and I have really enjoyed it. Who knew?!

Well, I have to go get ready for work, so more posting to come...
